Officers and members of the public, who have gone above and beyond their duty to protect communities across Telford, have been recognised in a special ceremony.
Chief Superintendent Paul Moxley presented 13 police officers with Chief Superintendent Commendations, and was joined by Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Jones who presented three Royal Humane Society awards at the ceremony held last Wednesday (25 May).
The awards range from an off duty police officer and St John’s Ambulance Service volunteer who gave lifesaving CPR to a man following a collision, to another officer who stopped a prolific shoplifter as he was on his way home after clocking off from a shift.

Local policing Superintendent James Dunn said: “It was an honour see so many officers and staff presented with awards at the ceremony. All of them have gone above and beyond their duty, but also to the two members of the public who put other people before themselves to help protect someone from harm.
“The evening recognised some of the outstanding work from officers and staff who have gone above and beyond the high expectations both the public and the force set for them on a daily basis. These awards celebrate the fantastic work officers and staff carry out 24/7, 365 days a year to ensure we deliver the best possible service to our communities and protect people from harm.
“The awards given out are for the extraordinary efforts individuals and teams have gone to in displaying bravery, commitment and dedication to protect our communities. All of the awards presented are incredibly well deserved, and on behalf of the whole force I would like to congratulate and thank everyone who has been presented with an award, and I am delighted to be able to recognise these achievements.”

Guests included the families of those receiving awards along with the High Sheriff of Shropshire Selina Graham, Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner Nicola Lowery and the Mayor of Telford and Wrekin, Councillor Raj Mehta.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “The police officers and staff have rightly been recognised for their work for our communities and make them safer. These awards recognise those who’ve acted professionally, bravely and commendably and I would like to thank them for all that they’ve done.”
