A man has been sentenced for a sexual assault that took place in prison whilst he was serving time for assault.
Scott Wood, of no fixed abode, was given a nine week custodial sentence for the sexual assault and will be added to the sex offenders register for five years.
The 44-year-old pleaded guilty yesterday (April 2) for the incident that happened in November, where he touched a female member of staff’s bottom.
Wood, who is already in prison for grievous bodily harm, was sentenced at Telford Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Detective Constable Joanne Heyes, who is a Prison Crime Investigator, said: “We welcome the sentence that has been handed to Wood. This was a distressing incident for the victim and we commend her bravery and perseverance.
“We would encourage anyone who has concerns about a sexual crime, either recently or in the past, to get in touch. You will always be offered our full support.”
