West Mercia Police has this week joined forces up and down the country to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and bravery of those who respond to calls from the public and confront criminals day and night.
Starting on Monday 24 June, and running until Sunday 30 June, Response Policing Week is an opportunity to highlight the difficult, demanding, and unpredictable work that response officers and staff do to keep people safe.
We have been shining a light on the hard work and dedication of our patrol teams working shifts in each of West Mercia’s five Local Policing Areas (LPAs) – Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford, North Worcestershire, and South Worcestershire.
You may have already seen some of the many teams who are here to protect us 24/7 365 days of the year on our social media channels and in the local media.

Superintendent Jamie Dunn, said: “Being a patrol officer is a tough but rewarding role.
“It’s demanding, varied and unpredictable - they never know what’s going to happen from one hour to the next.
“Patrol officers respond to whatever is happening at any given moment, whether that’s anti-social behaviour, public disorder, RTCs or violent crime.
“It’s because of their tireless efforts, dedication and bravery confronting criminals day and night that we’re able to keep the public and our communities safe.
“Response Policing Week is an appropriate time to ensure our officers get the appreciation they deserve but once those days have passed, the work doesn’t stop.
“Every day is a response policing day and I thank each and every one of our patrol officers for everything they do.”
