Man taken to hospital following Redditch incident

Extra officers will continue to be in the area after a man fell from the roof of Threadneedle House on Alcester Street in Redditch this afternoon (Thursday 7 March).

Enquiries are being carried out to establish the circumstances of the incident, however, initial enquiries suggest there was an altercation between a group of people on the roof shortly before the man, who is in his 20s, fell.

The man was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Searches are on-going to locate two men who it is believed were on the roof at the time of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher said: “There is an increased police presence in Redditch as we carry out our enquiries and I know some people may be concerned.

“We do not believe there is any wider risk to the public however understand there has been speculation a firearm was discharged. We have established this has not been the case and a firearm has not been discharged.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation as we deal with the incident and carry out searches of the area.”
