Man sentenced for ABH and assault on woman

A man has been sentenced at court today (Wednesday 3 December) for assault causing bodily harm and assault and battery.

Jake Morris, 30, of Bromwich Road, Worcester was found guilty of ABH for which he was sentenced to 34 weeks, and two counts of assault and battery at Kidderminster Magistrates Court.

Morris subjected his victim to a prolonged attack pushing her down concrete stairs and punching her to the face and head resulting in multiple injuries at an address in Worcester yesterday (Tuesday).

He was swiftly arrested yesterday morning and remanded in police custody overnight before his court appearance this morning.

Morris was given an additional 16-week sentence - bringing his total jail term to 50 weeks - after activating a suspended sentence for a previous offence for violence against a different woman.

He was further handed a two-year restraining order against his latest victim.

Detective Constable Pete Ryland said: “We would like to commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward.

“West Mercia Police take violence against women and girls very seriously and such perpetrators will be dealt with robustly.

“In this case we are pleased to say he was swiftly arrested, brought before the courts and sent to prison for a total of 50 weeks.”
