Appeal following sexual assault in Telford

Officers are appealing for information after a young girl was sexually assaulted in Telford on Tuesday (24 March).

The incident happened at around 3pm at an address on Willowfields in Woodside, where a man entered the property through the backdoor before touching the girl above the clothes.

The man believed someone else to be in the property which caused him to leave and the incident was quickly reported to police.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 5ft 10in and 6ft 2in. He was wearing blue jeans, a black puffa jacket and fingerless gloves.

Detective Inspector Corry Horobin, said: “This is a deeply concerning incident, where thankfully, the young girl involved is safe, and we are providing her and her family with the support they need.

“We understand that reports like this can cause concern in the community, but I want to reassure residents that incidents of this nature are rare, and we have increased patrols in the area while our investigation continues. Our officers are working hard to identify the man involved, and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“We would urge people to remain vigilant and report anything that feels out of place or suspicious.

“If you were in the Willowfields area around 3pm on Tuesday or saw a man matching the description, please get in touch. Even the smallest piece of information could help us.”
