As a full-time officer on the Police Constable Entry Programme, you will be able to join the frontline of policing, earning a starting salary of £29,907 whilst also learning the crucial skills and practices to become a fully qualified police officer.
This is a 2-year programme designed for candidates who are not eligible to apply through our other entry routes. It provides new recruits with a blend of practical ‘on-the-job’ experience and classroom-based learning.
This route does not give any qualification at the end of the two-year period, as candidates will not study for a degree. Whichever route you choose to join us, you’ll receive the best possible training and are expected to reach a standard of operational competence by the end of this period.
Your training will start with an initial learning period where you will learn the basic knowledge and skills needed to be a police officer. From there you will move to your designated local policing area for 20 weeks of tutoring and learning.
The remainder of your two years will be spent building your skills, experience, and knowledge through a several different operational placements – including response and neighbourhood policing.
We will support you throughout your learning. You will be provided with a dedicated Tutor Constable, who will be your first point of contact, along with your fellow policing colleagues and your line manager who will guide and advise you during your training.
Upon successfully completing your probation you’ll become a fully qualified police officer.
There are many opportunities to progress through the ranks and/or specialise in an area of policing that interests you after you have finished the PCEP programme.
Whichever direction you decide to take your policing career, we will support you and help you to develop into the best officer you can be.
Upon successful completion of your two-year probation period, the following career path is available. You will also have the opportunity to specialise, whether this be in a Neighbourhood Policing Team where a more collaborative community approach is required or as a detective, investigating more complex crime.
As a full time, student officer on the PCEP programme you will earn a starting salary of £29,907 whilst also learning the crucial skills and practices to become a fully qualified Police Officer.
