There is a whole host of new career opportunities on the horizon as we build a new West Mercia Police. As an experienced officer, here's why you should consider moving to West Mercia and progressing your career with us.
Our policing area covers Herefordshire, Shropshire (including Telford and Wrekin) and Worcestershire. It is the fourth largest policing area by land mass and contains a diverse range of environments from densely populated urban areas such as Bromsgrove, Redditch, Telford, Shrewsbury, and Worcester, to sparsely populated rural areas, such as Herefordshire.
Hindlip Hall, WorcesterA former stately home first built in 1575, the hall boasts a long and vibrant history, including its role in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
Since 1967, the hall has served as home to the majority of our police staff, along with some officers and volunteers. It also features a purpose-built firearms training school, a dog handler school with kennels, a restaurant, and a sports hall.
The picturesque grounds provide an ideal workplace setting and the perfect spot for a lunchtime stroll.
WorcestershireWorcestershire offers a harmonious blend of urban towns and cities, such as Worcester, Redditch, and Bromsgrove, alongside the scenic green pastures of areas like Malvern and Pershore, making it a fantastic place to live and work.
HerefordshireHerefordshire is set upon the picturesque River Wye and is a favourite of people moving to the Midlands, because of:
ShropshireShropshire is often regarded as a hidden gem in the rural English countryside, offering a unique experience for those who live and work in the county. Towns such as Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Church Stretton, and Ludlow draw thousands of tourists to Shropshire every year.
The county town, Shrewsbury, blends the charm of the old with the vibrancy of the new, offering something for everyone.
Telford, a thriving and dynamic town, provides a vibrant place to live and work. It boasts fantastic amenities, picturesque countryside, excellent connectivity, and a mix of modern entertainment alongside rich cultural heritage.
The West Mercia area is also a great place to live. There is a wide variety of towns and villages surrounded by beautiful rural landscapes. With excellent transport links and easy access to Birmingham and London, there is no shortage of leisure amenities and attractions. From picturesque cathedral cities such as Worcester, to market towns including Shrewsbury, Evesham and Ross-on-Wye, to modern shopping in Telford, all surrounded by magnificent countryside such as the Malvern Hills and the famed Cotswolds, there is something for everyone.
