We can take your fingerprints for the following reasons:
- passports and identity cards
- visa applications
- adoption certificates
- police clearance from abroad
- good conduct certificates from abroad
- for non-UK citizens to work with children in the UK
- foreign professional exams (such as NCLEX - nursing)
- working in the UK for countries that trade overseas
- adoption procedures abroad, particularly in the USA
- those conducting business in or within the USA in various jobs or professions
- for part of an evidence kit for people working in countries with unstable regimes
- firearm renewals
Our fingerprinting services are available to anyone who can provide formal identification, not just UK residents. Please see the What to bring with you section on this page.
Cost
One set of fingerprints: £126.24 including VAT
Each additional set: £63.12 including VAT
The following countries are exempt from paying VAT:
- Canada
- Fiji
- Japan
- Nigeria
- St Vincent and the Grenadines
- United Arab Emirates
- Zimbabwe
- Zambia
For these countries one set of fingerprints costs £105.20 and £52.60 for each additional set.
Please note that we're only able to accept payment by credit or debit card.
How to make an appointment
The Fingerprint Bureau is open Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm (closed on bank holidays).
To make an appointment please email our Fingerprint Bureau.
Please include in your email:
- your first name
- your surname
- your email address
- your telephone number
- preferred appointment date/time
- the country you require the fingerprints for
- any other information relevant to your visit (for example, if you have accessibility needs)
Please only attend once you have received an email reply from the Fingerprint Bureau with the details of your appointment.
What to bring with you
You'll need to bring the following with you:
- current valid passport or current valid photo driving licence
- if you need us to certify any documents, please bring photocopies and originals with you
Please note: some countries need you to complete their own forms. For example if you need your fingerprints taken for the US then you'll need to download the FBI's own form from their website and bring that with you to your appointment.
If you're applying for a Hong Kong Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC) you can use our West Mercia fingerprint form. It meets the requirements of the Hong Kong Police Force.
If you're renewing a South African passport you'll need to bring the form they supply from the South African embassy.
Please check if the country you're supplying your fingerprints to has their own form and bring that with you to your appointment.
