We have a use of force working group which includes representatives from the force's Independent Advisory Groups, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), engagement team and equality and diversity officers.
Force representatives also sit on the National Use of Force board.
All recorded use of force is checked by a supervisor, and quarterly data sets are compiled for each local policing area, where we have a senior officer single-point-of-contact (SPOC) who is responsible for reviewing complaints, disproportionality, and scrutinising officer and team performance around use of force.
This information is discussed at local quarterly meetings involving local IAG representation, and any issues arising are reported back into the force working group.
Each responding officer completes a record of their actions. Therefore, there may be more than one record linked to the same incident.
Multiple incidents involving the same person will be recorded separately.
